Don’t you love it when people put you on the spot by saying: Why don’t you tell us something about yourself? I think this is one of the toughest questions by far.
My name is Herson Rivera and I am a wedding photographer and portrait photographer in Virginia Beach, Virginia. I am not going to say that I have always loved photography because the reality is well, I haven’t loved photography all my life. However, I’ve always enjoyed art and all the things we can say or interpret with it. And guess what? Yep. Photography is art.
I can say I really started appreciating photography during my freshman year in college. I took a class ( I had to buy a camera for the class ) and it all started from that point. Like many photographers when they start shooting, I started with landscapes and abstracts. Nothing wrong with that at all, but after a while I started to notice that I was missing something from my images. Most of my photography was pretty good but to me it was just that. A hill, a tree, the sky, etc. That’s when I started looking into portraits and weddings. Not only I enjoy doing it, but at the same time I am getting what I was missing from my other photos. Interaction between me and the subjects which consequently was reflected in the photos. That’s when you look at a photo and you can feel what it was like at that moment and that is why I enjoy it so much. If you enjoy art and photography in specific, well I think we are off to a good start. Enjoy!
